Though the band didn't have much success in the United States, they were hugely popular in other countries. That was the case especially in Japan. Ford's solo career in heavy metal was successful after the 1979 split of the band. She began taking vocal lessons. The first album she released on her own was called 'Dancing on the Edge'. The albums didn't get much attention, and Ford was a bit absent from the world of rock for several years. In 1988, Ford debuted her wildly successful album 'Lita.' Kiss Me Deadly and Close My Eyes Forever, both of which were huge hits were two instances. The singer disappeared from the music industry for a couple of years following her brief commercial success. Her 'Black" album debuted in 1995. Her 'Wicked Wonderland" release almost 15 years later. Her latest album was released in 2016 called 'Time Capsule. Guitar Player Magazine has awarded her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
